After you fill out our New Client Consultation Form, we will be in touch to schedule your consultation with us. During that meeting, we will discuss any concerns you have with your dog, as well as get eyes on your dog’s behavior. This will help us recommend the training regimen we think will best suite your and your dog’s needs.
At Pawsitive Vibes K9 Training, we are focused on using scientifically-proven positive reinforcement methods when working with your dog. This means that your dog will be rewarded for good behavior, and we simply move on from any undesirable behavior. We never use force or fear to motivate your dog.
Most of the time, we are able to train your dog using whatever gear you prefer them to be in. Flat collars, limited slip collars, and martingale collars are all acceptable. Although collars are preferred, we can work with your dog on a harness if needed due to medical reasons. Pawsitive Vibes K9 Training does not use prong collars, e-collars, choke chains, and other tools that may be considered aversive. If you currently utilize these tools with your dog, please note that we will replace them with our own gear during their stay with us. This will all be discussed during your initial consultation.
If you typically crate your dog overnight, we may ask that you bring your dog’s crate if they are staying with us.
We will provide all treats used during your dog’s training sessions (including ones to give to you if you’re participating in our private sessions). If your dog has any food allergies or sensitivities, we may ask that you provide treats for your dog to prevent any medical issues from occurring. If you have any preferences on what treats your dog receives, we may also ask you to bring your own.
There is no set amount of time that it may take any dog to learn any given behavior. Just like people, all dogs are different and require different approaches to training. It all depends on your dog and the behavior they’re learning! We will be able to provide you with progress reports at the end of each session to give you a better idea of their progress.
As wonderful as that would be, that is not how training works! Your dog will need consistent practice and reminders of any good behavior they learn throughout their life. It can also take time for behavior to transfer from location to location, and from person to person. For this reason, our private sessions are highly recommended, since they can occur with you and in the places of your choice!
The ultimate goal for many dog owners is to have their dog listen to their directions whether they are on or off leash. We may utilize a longline (a 30-50 foot leash) to simulate the feeling of being off-leash, but we will never work with your dog off-leash unless they are inside or in a fenced-in area. This is for safety reasons. However, we strive for “loose-leash walking,” meaning although your dog is attached to you by a leash, they will not be pulling or creating any tension on the leash.
Yes, we can! Just fill out our New Client Consultation Form and we will be in touch to schedule your consultation with us! During this meeting, we will discuss everything about your dog and their lifestyle to determine what will work best for you!
Every dog learns differently, just like every trainer trains differently! We understand that Pawsitive Vibes K9 Training isn’t for everyone, which is why we offer a variety of time frames to get started. You may start off with a couple 4-hour daycare sessions, and then eventually move to 2 weeks of board and train if you like what you see! We strive to be as flexible and as helpful as possible when it comes to your furry friends!
Of course! We understand the worry and “wonder “what if’s” that comes with leaving your dog with someone else. With your permission, we will take photos and videos throughout your dog’s training sessions and/or stay with us. This is also a great way to track their progress after a few sessions of training!
Service Dogs are becoming more popular as time goes on, which unfortunately means more people are claiming their pets as Service Animals. It takes a very specific temperament and personality in a dog to be trained for Service work, and sometimes even the most well-behaved and loving companion animals are not cut out for it. Stephanie Anderson, owner of Pawsitive Vibes K9 Training, does have a background in training Psychiatric Service Dogs. If you are looking to train your current pet as a Service Dog, please fill out our New Client Consultation Form and note this request under “additional information.”
We currently accept cash, check, money orders, or Venmo payments. We hope to expand to accepting credit card payments soon!
A reservation fee will be required at the time of booking. This fee will be deducted from your final payment, which will be due in full at the start of the first session or at the start of drop-off.
